At $15 for 6 hours, the best value around for women interested in honing their cyclocross skills is half full with more than a month left before the event! The clinic, presented with the support of Illinois Cycling Association, features pro rider Kristin Wentworth and will cover basic cross info and skills – barriers, carries, sand, cornering- and includes on-the-bike practice and a fun race at the end of the day.
Don’t miss it! Registration is here.

I know we’ve said we participate in all disciplines except gravity MTB and BMX. But that list got shorter this weekend when teammates Evan Thom and Ben Popper headed out to CAMBR’s Settin’ Down Roots event and took on the pump track.
Without even a single lap of pre-ride, Evan laid down some awesome times and took second in the U15 division. (photos: Amy Dykema) His first race ever and he won $100!

Ben had a pretty good time too.

I’d bet that’s not the last we see of these guys playing on the jumps. Stay tuned.

We’re excited to announce that the Illinois Cycling Association has come on board as a sponsor of the Women’s Cyclocross Clinic. Their assistance is helping keep this clinic affordable for attendees and we appreciate their support for this grassroots developmental program.
Thanks, ICA!

HAC roadies Jamie, Jeremiah, Todd, and Tom were joined by MTB’ers Ben and Mike last night for some hot laps in the hot weather but some really cool results.
In heat 1 of the Cat 4/5’s, Jamie went off the front to chase down a 2-man breakaway and landed on the podium in 3rd place. And in heat 2, Mike and Ben set a blistering pace on the front of the field, blowing the group apart. Mike got edged out by our friend Jeff Perkins in the final sprint and landed in 2nd, while Ben rolled across the line in 5th. Helping the guys out, though, HAC supporters were out in numbers big enough and loud enough to warrant comment from the announcer.

What do you get when you migrate a flock of HAC riders & friends north of the Cheddar Curtain? Long-mile, hilly roadie days, loop after loop of rocks, roots, n’ trees in the Kettle Moraine, and the requisite “other activites.” Thanks to our gracious hosts Dan and Lisa Labovitch, the weekend was capped off with great lake swimming and boat rides and thanks to sponsor Half Acre we enjoyed a keg of the best IPA ever, Daisy Cutter. Oh, and there was a ramp at the end of the pier, and a BMX bike with 2-liter bottles as floaters, and sparklers, and some shenanigans.
