Gapers Block Crits and clinic are here!!

Folks are obviously ready to get racing this year.  Our beginner's clinic this weekend is maxed out  and all pre-reg spots for the three heats at our crit series are full as well.

A couple of quick reminders for those racing next week

If you are pre-registered for the series:

  • have your renewed license and an id ready when you check in
  • license must be 2014, a printed 'authorization to ride' or be able to show on a smart phone the renewal.
  • you must check in every night and sign in at the registration table otherwise results will not be counted
  • if you do not have a license be prepared to pay an extra $15 each day you race for the one day license fee
  • you keep the same bib # for the entire week

For those coming down each night:

  • there are ten open slots, first come-first serve.  We will then have a wait list and fill from the prereg no-shows.
  • save time bring a filled out waiver!  it's usually cold and windy out there.
    • if you have a license:  this is your waiver
    • if you do NOT have a license:  fill out this waiver
  • Payment via cash or checks made out to 'Half Acre Cycling', no credit cards
  • juniors must have a parent or guardian to sign their waiver

For everyone:  remember to check your equipment, wear a helmet, we'll try to place up to ten deep if we can, it's early in the season so we hope this series is an opportunity to kicks it off in a fun way!

Spring is.....so close, so close

March is here and we at Half Acre Cycling are ready to hit the open roads!

For the sixth year running we will be putting on our Gapers Block Crit Series.  Time to shake the dust off those legs.  This series is geared toward the newer racers out there.  Whether it'll be your first time out or you're almost ready to get that upgrade this series is for you.  It'll run from March 31st through April 3rd.   Pre-registration for the men is full but there will be 10 first come-first get spots each night (not to mention filling the pre-reg no-shows).  There are just a few spots left for the ladies!  Registration/info on Bikereg and for announcements on Facebook.  Our goal is to provide local, low cost, racing opportunities for the newer riders in the cycling scene.

Feeling like you're not sure about this race thing yet?  We are hosting a Beginners Road Clinic the day before the series.  We will let you know what to expect, the basic fundamentals, tips and tricks.  We have an amazing coach!!  Greg Meeker, a former member of the U.S. National Cycling Team, will give a guest lecture. Greg has coached many riders, both men and women. He regularly presents lectures and outdoor riding skills clinics in Illinois and Wisconsin. He also coached multiple National team members and helped found Midwest's first women's cycling team.   This even is FREE!  But you need to Register and for announcements go to Facebook.  This clinic is welcome to Women, Men, Juniors, and Trans, come as you are, we only require an open mind about learning to race your bike.
